This special week aims to raise awareness of the reasons for the existence of national parks, and to celebrate their beauty, diversity and the opportunities they offer everyone to enjoy their special qualities. 4 Aug to 11 Aug : Active Aboyne Outdoor Activities Festival 2008

Walks, talks and other events in the heart of Royal Deeside. 15 Aug to 19 Aug : Midlothian Walking Festival 2008

30 Aug to 7 Sep : Scottish Borders Festival of Walking 2008

Visit the Scottish Borders and take part in the Scottish Borders Festival of Walking which will feature walks along St Cuthbert's Way, historic Dere Street (famous for its Roman heritage), The Borders Abbeys Way, on the Pennine Way, over ancient drove roads throughout the Cheviot range and along Border valleys and rivers. http://walking.visitscotland.com/events/borders_walk_fest

30 Aug to 8 Sep : Pendle Walking Festival 2008
