Newsletter - December 2007
Welcome
It's been a while since our last newsletter, but we have been working behind the scenes on the site nevertheless.
Flickr photos
If you've looked at the interactive walking map recently and zoomed in on an area, you will have seen that in addition to the walk markers, you are now also shown a selection of photos for the region. These are from the popular photo site Flickr, so if you have any photos with GPS co-ordinates on there then yours may well appear.
The main reason for adding photos like this is so that you can easily find walks with more sights to see on the way, if you're making up your own walks, or so that you can add a bit of interest to existing walks in an area with a detour.
New walks
Up until now it's been quite a manual process for adding new walks to the site, however we've been working on a way to search other walking sites so that this is done automatically and updates the walking map without any intervention.
We've made good progress on this and you'll see that there are now more walks than ever for you to search - 1371 at the last count.
You can of course still add walks you find on other sites by signing up and clicking on "Add a free walk on another website" in your account.
Feedback
We'd love to hear your feedback about the site. After all, it's been made for people like you to use and enjoy. Feedback is always welcome, whether good or bad.
If you have any comments then feel free to let us know via our feedback form.
Finally, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
