Newsletter - January 2009
Welcome
We're a little late, given that it's already half way through January, but happy new year!
Find free UK walks by Ordnance Survey Explorer map
We have one new feature which has just launched on the site - it's the ability to select an Ordnance Survey Explorer map from a list, and to view all walks on the site (and others) which are in that area.
This is a great alternative to the interactive walking map which allows you to easily see walks in a specified area. The walks are ordered by length, so you can quickly find a walk which is suitable.
UK Everest Challenge
From ukeverestchallenge.com: "The peak of Mount Everest is 8,848 meters (29,029 ft) above sea level and is one of the worlds most breathtaking regions. Climbing Everest however takes many thousands of pounds in permits, training, equipment, insurance and travelling expenses." Instead, the walkers at ukeverestchallenge.com are going to be climbing peaks in Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, starting in August 2009, which will all add up to exceed the height of Everest! All money raised will be donated to charity.
Find out more at The UK Everest Challenge website.
That's all for now - happy walking!
