Summary:

This gentle walk on Bickerton Hill is ideal for a Sunday afternoon. The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) that covers 280 acres and consists of woodland, heather and red sandstone. On top of the hill is the area of Maiden Castle which is where an Iron Age fort used to be, although the only visible signs today are two semi circular ramparts covered with bracken and heather.
